About Kumu Kealii |
Where We've Danced |
Kumu Kealii, a Honolulu Hawai'i native, was born into a family of musicians and dancers. From the age of three, she was fully immersed into her culture and heritage. Kumu Kealii's mana'o, background, and career is greatly attributed to Na Kumu Hula Leilani Alama and Keli'i Chang, Tiana and Riki Liufau of Nonosina, Tavana, Tihati, Hawaiian Hut Seas Revue, and numerous Tahitian and Hawaiian workshops. She established her own halau, Kealii's, in 1982, and has fully immersed herself in teaching any and all who wish to learn more about the Polynesian culture. The halau has been fortunate enough to travel to Texas, California, Montana, Hawaii, Kansas, and Missouri for the Polynesian culture.
